Built for Powder Protection
Protein and nutrition powders can be sensitive to moisture, oxygen, light and poor sealing. The packaging structure should be selected around the actual powder, target shelf life, filling process and distribution conditions.
The Right Barrier Starts With the Product
There is no single laminate structure that is correct for every protein powder. The required barrier can change according to powder sensitivity, storage conditions, pack size and shelf-life target.
Typical flexible packaging structures may include PET/PE, PET/VMPET/PE, PET/AL/PE and other multilayer structures. The final construction and thickness should be confirmed for the specific product and application.
Moisture Barrier
Moisture ingress can contribute to clumping and changes in powder handling. Barrier requirements should reflect the product's moisture sensitivity and expected storage environment.
Oxygen Barrier
Oxygen protection may be important for powders containing oxidation-sensitive ingredients, flavors or nutritional components. The required level depends on the formulation and shelf-life target.
Light Protection
Metallized or aluminum-barrier structures can provide stronger light protection where the product or ingredients require reduced light exposure during storage.
Seal Integrity
Powder in the sealing area can affect seal performance. Pouch design, sealant selection and filling conditions should therefore be evaluated together.

Designed for Repeated Daily Use
Protein powder packaging is opened and closed repeatedly. Details such as opening width, zipper position, pouch stability and handling can directly affect how convenient the package feels during daily use.
Make the Pouch Easy to Open, Scoop, Reseal & Store
Larger protein and nutrition powder pouches are often used over many days or weeks. A well-designed pouch should help consumers access the powder easily while maintaining convenient resealing and stable storage between uses.
PROTEIN RESEALABLE FLEXIBLE POUCH
WIDE OPENING · STABLE BASE
Design note: opening width and zipper position should be confirmed together with the pouch dimensions, fill level and intended scoop size where applicable.
Wide Opening for Scoop Access
A wider pouch opening can make it easier for consumers to reach inside with a scoop, especially on larger protein and meal replacement packs.
Resealable Zipper
A zipper allows the pouch to be opened and closed repeatedly after the original top seal has been removed, helping improve convenience during daily use.
Stable Standing Base
Flat-bottom and stand-up pouch formats can provide better stability for larger retail packs, helping the package remain upright during storage and use.
Easier Handling
Pouch dimensions, gusset design and filled weight influence how easy a larger pack is to hold, open, pour from and return to storage.
Have an existing protein powder pouch you want to improve?

Packaging Built for Heavier Fill Weights
As fill weight increases, packaging design needs to consider more than capacity alone. Seal strength, gusset support, pouch stability and transport durability become increasingly important.
Often suitable for stand-up or compact flat-bottom pouch formats, depending on powder volume and brand presentation.
Requires enough opening width for convenient access while maintaining stable sealing and filled-pouch handling.
Pouch structure, gusset design and seal performance become more important as both package volume and filled weight increase.
Larger formats should be evaluated around the actual powder, target dimensions, handling requirements and distribution conditions.
A Larger Pouch Needs More Than Extra Volume
Heavier powder fills place more load on the pouch during filling, handling, packing and transportation. The material structure and pouch construction should be evaluated together rather than simply increasing dimensions.
Project-specific confirmation is important. Final material thickness, pouch dimensions and seal parameters should be confirmed according to the actual powder, fill weight and packing process.
Seal Strength
Larger fill weights increase stress on pouch seals. Sealant selection, sealing area and filled-bag load should therefore be considered together.
Gusset & Bottom Design
The bottom shape affects internal volume, shelf stability and how the weight of the powder is supported after filling.
Handling & Drop Resistance
Filled pouches may experience impact during packing, warehousing and transportation. Packaging strength should reflect expected distribution conditions.
Correct Pouch Dimensions
Two powders with the same net weight can occupy different volumes. Actual product density should be considered before finalizing bag width, height and gusset.
Need help estimating the right pouch size?
Send us your powder type, target net weight, existing pouch dimensions or approximate bulk density. For an existing product, photos or a filled sample can also help confirm dimensions more accurately.
Custom Printing, Finishing & Shaped Pouches
Packaging design is part of how a nutrition brand competes on shelf. We support custom printing, surface finishes, metallic effects, custom pouch formats and shaped pouch development according to the project requirements.

Turn the Pouch Into Part of the Brand Experience
Protein and supplement packaging often competes in a visually crowded market. Pouch shape, printing quality, surface finish and material appearance can help create stronger shelf differentiation while maintaining the functional requirements of the package.
Gravure Printing
Suitable for repeat production and branded packaging requiring consistent multi-color printing across larger runs.
Matte & Gloss Finishes
Choose the surface appearance that better fits the positioning of your protein, nutrition or supplement brand.
Metallic Appearance
Metallized structures and carefully planned graphics can create metallic visual effects for selected areas or the overall packaging design.
Custom Colors & Graphics
Build different visual identities for whey protein, collagen, creatine and other SKUs while maintaining a consistent brand system.
Custom Shaped Pouches for Product Differentiation
Beyond standard rectangular pouches, selected projects can use custom die-cut shapes to create a more distinctive package. Final shape feasibility depends on pouch dimensions, sealing area, zipper position, material structure and filling requirements.
Have artwork or a packaging reference already?
Send us your artwork, pouch dimensions, target quantity and preferred finish. We can evaluate the printing method, pouch structure and production requirements before quotation. Reference packaging can be used for size, structure and functional direction, while final artwork should use your own brand or authorized design.
Single-Serve Sachets & Printed Rollstock Film
Protein and nutrition powders are also commonly packed in single-serve sachets, trial packs and stick packs. Printed rollstock can be produced around the requirements of the filling and forming equipment.
Rollstock Designed Around Your Packing Process
For automatic sachet and stick-pack production, film dimensions and roll specifications should be matched to the machine and package design before production.
From Retail Pouch to One-Serving Format
Single-serve packs are useful for samples, travel packs, collagen portions, protein trials and other pre-measured nutrition powders. The final package should be developed around both the dose and the filling equipment.
Film Width
Roll width should be confirmed according to the final package format and the forming requirements of the filling machine.
Repeat Length
Printed repeat length needs to match the package dimensions and registration requirements of the automatic packing line.
Roll Direction
Artwork orientation and unwind direction should be confirmed before cylinder making and printing.
Seal Compatibility
Material structure and sealant selection should match the powder, machine conditions and required sealing performance.
Information Helpful Before Rollstock Production
If you already have a filling machine, providing machine information helps confirm the roll specification.
Already using a protein powder packing machine?

Quality Control for Protein Powder Packaging
Protein powder packaging needs consistent dimensions, printing, sealing and pouch construction. Inspection points can be adjusted according to the pouch type, material structure and project requirements.
Quality Is Controlled Across the Production Process
A finished pouch depends on several production stages working together. Material, printing, lamination, bag making and final inspection all influence the consistency of the delivered packaging.
Testing should match the actual project. Not every packaging format requires the same inspection method, so final QC requirements should be confirmed before production.
Seal & Leak Inspection
Seal areas can be checked for consistency and obvious leakage risks, especially on larger pouches and powder packaging requiring repeated handling.
Dimension Check
Width, height, gusset and other pouch dimensions are checked against the confirmed specification to help maintain production consistency.
Printing & Registration
Artwork position, color appearance and print registration are inspected during production according to the approved artwork and printing conditions.
Appearance Inspection
Finished pouches are visually checked for obvious surface, printing, zipper and bag-making defects before packing.
Strength Evaluation
Material and finished-pouch strength can be evaluated according to the bag structure, filled weight and project requirements.
Filled-Pack Evaluation
For larger or more demanding projects, testing with the actual product or a representative fill can provide more useful information than evaluating an empty pouch alone.
Packaging Compliance & Documentation Support
Food-contact packaging projects may require supporting documentation or testing according to the target market, material structure and customer requirements. Review Runlong Pack's compliance information and available documentation support.
