Roll Stock Film
Your machine makes the package
Roll stock film is printed flexible film wound on a core. Your machine pulls the film from the roll, forms it around the product, fills it and seals each package.

Pre-Made Bags
The bag is formed before filling
Pre-made bags are supplied as individual empty bags. A person or a pre-made pouch machine opens each bag, fills the product and seals the remaining opening.

- Common for stand-up pouches, flat-bottom bags and zipper bags
Important: automatic packaging does not always mean roll film. Some automatic machines use pre-made pouches. The deciding factor is whether the machine forms the package from a continuous film web.

What is a pre-made bag?
A pre-made bag is fully formed before filling. The empty bags are supplied individually, then opened, filled and sealed manually or by a pre-made pouch packaging machine.
How can I confirm which packaging format my machine needs?
Send a short video of the machine running, photos of the current package and machine nameplate, plus your product and net weight. Runlong Pack can use this information to identify whether you need roll film or pre-made bags and request the remaining specifications.

How Many Bags Can Your Roll Film Produce?
Enter the roll weight, actual film web width, print repeat length and total thickness to calculate a practical bag quantity estimate.
Estimated quantity tolerance: ±5%. Material density, thickness tolerance, printing ink and adhesive weight, splices, machine setup and production loss cannot be fully confirmed by a simple online calculation. The final finished quantity may therefore be approximately 5% higher or lower than the displayed estimate. Final requirements should be confirmed from the approved roll film specification.

What are the minimum and recommended order quantities for custom roll film?
For selected projects, digitally printed roll film may start from approximately 10 kg . This low quantity is mainly useful for trial production, new-product testing or other low-volume requirements. However, very small digital runs usually result in a higher cost per finished package because production costs are spread across less film. For normal commercial production, Runlong Pack generally recommends planning around 300 kg or more for better unit economics. Final quantity depends on film width, material structure, artwork, SKU count and production requirements.
Should I choose digital printing or gravure printing?
Digital printing is useful for smaller trial orders, new-product launches, multiple SKUs and projects where artwork may change frequently. It can support a much lower starting quantity, but very small runs normally have a higher unit cost. Gravure printing is generally better suited to stable, larger-volume production. At around 300 kg or more, we recommend evaluating gravure printing based on the film structure, width, artwork and expected repeat-order volume.
What if I do not know which roll film specification my machine needs?
Send the packing-machine model or nameplate, a short machine video, the current film roll and a finished package photo. These details help confirm film width, repeat length, eye-mark position, core size and unwind direction.
What information is needed for a roll film quotation?
Please provide the packed product, pack size, target filling weight, film width or current specification, estimated order quantity, artwork, packaging-machine information and destination country. If technical details are missing, photos of the existing package, film roll and machine are a useful starting point.
Can the film material, thickness and barrier level be customized?
Yes. The material structure, total thickness, oxygen or moisture barrier, sealing layer and surface appearance can be selected according to the packed product, shelf-life target and packing conditions. Common examples include BOPP / CPP, PET / PE, PET / VMPET / PE and PET / AL / PE.
How do we confirm the correct roll direction and print orientation?
The unwind direction, artwork orientation, eye-mark location and print repeat should be confirmed before production. A photo of the current roll installed on your machine is often the clearest reference when the technical roll-direction number is unknown.
Can I receive samples before placing a production order?
Available stock or material samples can be discussed for checking film feel, structure and general workmanship. The availability of a custom printed sample depends on the printing method, film structure, artwork and project requirements. How long does custom roll film production take?
For digital printing, production typically takes approximately 8–10 working days after artwork, film specifications and required production details are confirmed. For gravure printing, cylinder preparation typically takes approximately 7–9 working days. After the cylinders are completed, production typically takes approximately 15–20 days. Shipping time is separate.
