Custom Printed Pouches • B2B Manufacturing
Custom Mylar Bags
Printed barrier pouches for brands that need the right balance of product protection, retail presentation and filling fit.
Compare flat bags, stand-up zipper pouches and suitable window options. Runlong Pack reviews the actual laminate, size and printing route for your product—not just a bag name or a silver appearance.
Packaging visuals illustrate formats and design options. Printed brand names, food claims and weights in concept artwork are not customer endorsements or approved product specifications.

A Practical Buying Starting Point
Custom Mylar Bags: Quick Answer & Production Facts
Quick Answer: Buyers commonly use “Mylar bags” to describe laminated flexible pouches with barrier properties, often with a metallic appearance. Choose the bag format around filling and display, then confirm moisture, oxygen and light protection, seal performance and quantity per design. Eligible ordinary digital pouch projects may be evaluated around 100 pieces; approximately 1,000–3,000 pieces is normally recommended for better value. Special formats and structures have separate limits.
| Supply | Empty custom printed premade pouches; stock-pouch overprinting where suitable inventory exists. |
|---|---|
| Eligible ordinary digital pouches | Some projects around 100 pcs; recommended around 1,000–3,000 pcs. Confirm each artwork and structure. |
| Ordinary gravure pouches | Generally around 10,000 pcs, subject to dimensions, laminate, colors and production requirements. |
| Flat-bottom digital format | Approximately 1,000–2,000 pcs can be evaluated. Do not apply the ordinary 100-piece reference. |
| Digital finished-bag width | Maximum approximately 37 cm; wider finished bags require another production route. |
| Materials & features | Project-specific laminates; suitable zippers, tear notches, hanging holes, windows and finishes. |
| Typical production timing | Digital: approximately 8–10 working days. Gravure: cylinders approximately 7–9 working days, then production approximately 15–20 days. |
Production timing starts after final artwork/specification approval and receipt of required payment. Sampling, testing and shipping are separate.
What Are Mylar Bags?
Mylar is a trademarked name associated with polyester film. In packaging searches, “Mylar bag” is also commonly used as a broad buying term for flexible barrier pouches. That market wording does not establish that every bag uses branded Mylar film, contains aluminum foil or delivers the same protection.
A bag name is not a material specification.
Ask for the actual layer structure, thickness, sealing layer and performance requirements. A silver interior may be foil or metallized film; visual appearance alone cannot identify the complete laminate. We do not claim branded Mylar film unless that supply has been specifically confirmed.
Runlong provides custom flexible packaging reviewed for your application. The same retail shape can be made with different structures, while the same material family can be converted into different pouch formats. Specify the product and use conditions before choosing either.
Choose Your Custom Mylar Bag Format
Flat & Three-Side-Seal Bags
Review for portions, compact retail packs or products that do not need a standing base. Confirm the filling opening, seal margins and any zipper requirement. Smaller dimensions do not automatically mean a lower piece-count MOQ.

A bottom gusset supports shelf display, while a compatible zipper supports repeated opening. Confirm usable volume, top-seal space and filling access with your actual product.

Evaluate a flat-bottom format when a different base and panel arrangement suits your retail range. Structure and print costs differ from ordinary pouches; custom shapes require separate manufacturing review.

Premade Bags Are Not Rollstock
These bags arrive formed and empty. They must match your manual, semi-automatic or premade-pouch filling setup. If your machine forms bags from a continuous film web, evaluate printed rollstock instead.
A “Mylar bag” description does not confirm vacuum-machine suitability or thermal-processing compatibility. Those conditions require separate specification review.

Specialized Retail Application
Custom Cannabis Mylar Packaging
For licensed cannabis brands, printed zipper pouches can be evaluated for flower and other suitable retail products. Confirm the actual product, fill weight, pack dimensions, moisture and aroma requirements, sealing method and destination market before selecting a laminate.
Separate Brand Artwork From Compliance Requirements
Plan each strain or SKU as a distinct artwork, with clear product identification and space for the labels required in your market. The illustrated designs are fictional concepts, not approved regulatory labels or real customer projects.
A standard resealable zipper is not evidence of child resistance. Where certified closures, tamper-evidence or particular performance claims are required, specify those requirements and confirm applicable testing and documentation for the actual package.

The correct laminate depends on your product, target shelf life, storage, filling and sealing conditions. Runlong uses food-grade raw materials for all flexible packaging production and does not use recycled, secondary or scrap materials. This raw-material policy is not a blanket final-package certification.
Aluminum Foil Structures
Evaluate where strong light shielding and suitable oxygen/moisture protection are required. The finished package still depends on layer thickness, conversion quality, seals and handling. Do not infer shelf life from foil alone.
Metallized Film Structures
A metallized film uses a thin metal coating rather than a separate foil sheet. Review its measured performance against your application; a metallic appearance does not make it equivalent to foil.
Clear Barrier & Paper-Look Options
Evaluate transparent structures where visibility matters and paper-look laminates where the presentation suits your brand. A kraft exterior is not proof of a paper-only, recyclable or compostable package.
Appearance and Performance Are Different Decisions
PET/PE, PET/VMPET/PE and PET/AL/PE are starting-point examples, not interchangeable approvals. Outer films support print and handling, barrier layers address protection, and the inner sealant must fit the product and equipment.
Matte, glossy, holographic and soft-touch appearances describe surface choices, not a complete barrier specification. Confirm the final layer sequence, thickness and intended conditions.

Mylar Bags With Clear Windows
A transparent window lets buyers see the product. The viewing area cannot have a continuous aluminum foil or metallized layer, because those layers would block visibility. Transparent film still covers the window; it is not an opening in the package.
Clear Front, Barrier Back: A Project Option
Where the format and manufacturing route allow, evaluate a windowed front panel with an aluminum foil or metallized back panel. This balances display with protection but is not equivalent to an all-foil bag.
The window size and transparent structure affect whole-package moisture, oxygen and light protection. Confirm the actual product, target shelf life, nitrogen flushing and seal/testing conditions. A photo cannot prove the unseen rear-panel laminate.

Resealable Closures & Custom Features

A Zipper Is Not the Original Heat Seal
A resealable zipper supports use after opening. The initial heat seal above it closes the retail package before sale. Reclosing the zipper does not recreate the unopened-package barrier.
Review tear notches, hanging holes, rounded corners and suitable closures with the pouch construction. For coffee, a valve can be evaluated where the actual product needs it. Special closures or shapes require a separate feasibility check.
Do not claim child resistance, odor-proof performance, tamper-evidence certification or a fixed storage life from a generic pouch image. Required performance must be defined and validated for the complete package.
Printing Options & Custom Mylar Bag MOQ
There is no single minimum for every Mylar bag. Start with format and finished size, then laminate, features, artwork count and printing requirements.
Eligible Ordinary Pouches
Digital Printing
~100 pcs evaluated
Approximately 1,000–3,000 pcs recommended for better value in suitable ordinary pouch projects. Useful for test launches and multiple designs, subject to minimums per artwork and compatible production conditions.
Maximum finished pouch width approximately 37 cm. Digital normally uses CMYK; exact Pantone matching is not guaranteed.
Stable Commercial Artwork
Gravure Printing
Generally ~10,000 pcs
Evaluate for suitable ordinary pouch projects and repeat production. Cylinder costs, colors, dimensions and quantity per design affect the comparison.
Each artwork normally requires separate cylinder evaluation. Do not apply a combined digital-SKU pricing assumption to gravure.
Suitable Existing Inventory
Stock Pouch Overprinting
Project review
Consider for simpler branding when a suitable stock bag size, surface and structure are available. Confirm print area, color count and inventory before quoting.
No universal stock-bag minimum is stated here. Simple overprinting is different from fully custom full-color printing.
Flat-bottom digital projects can be evaluated around 1,000–2,000 pcs; at 3,000+ pcs compare digital and gravure total costs. Special structures, closures and formats must be confirmed separately instead of borrowing the ordinary 100-piece reference.
Use the MOQ guide and digital vs gravure guide to prepare your design quantities.
Size, Filling & Production Limits
Confirm dimensions with your actual product. The same weight can require different bag volume for powder, whole nuts or airy snacks. Printed weights in concept artwork are not validated stock capacities.
| Buyer decision | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Bag dimensions | Width, height, gusset/base, zipper position and seal allowance. | Usable filling space differs from outside dimensions. |
| Fill & close | Product, net weight, filling method, seal settings and contamination. | The package must fill and seal consistently in real conditions. |
| Barrier | Shelf-life target, light exposure, storage and acceptance criteria. | Appearance and thickness alone do not prove protection. |
| Window | Location, size, front/rear structure and product visibility. | A window changes complete-package protection. |
| Print quantity | Total order, each SKU, artwork and reorder plan. | Method and minimum depend on the actual design split. |
| Special conditions | Hot filling, retort, freezing, vacuum or certified closures. | Do not assume ordinary pouch or digital rules apply. |
Finished widths above approximately 37 cm cannot use the digital route. Stock dimensions are subject to available inventory. Use the bag size guide, then confirm capacity with a representative filling trial before approving production.
Printed Designs, Finishes & SKU Planning
Build a Range Without Losing Specification Control
Separate flavor, product and weight artworks into a clear SKU list. Matching dimensions do not automatically mean every SKU uses the same material or can be combined at one price.
Gloss, matte, soft touch and suitable special effects can be evaluated by project. Confirm achievable colors and finishes through the agreed proof/sample route; screen images are not final production color standards.
The visual shows illustrative color and print options. It does not establish the printing method, laminate or MOQ of every pictured bag. Matching retail boxes can be reviewed separately through our paper packaging options.

Samples, Compliance & Project Validation
Reference Samples
Limited available stock/reference samples are normally free, with freight paid by the buyer. They help assess format and workmanship but do not approve your final structure or dimensions.
Custom Printed Samples
Eligible ordinary samples are approximately USD 50–70 each; special-finish samples approximately USD 100–150, subject to size, format and process review. One sample may be free after an eligible bulk order; applicable gravure orders exceeding 20,000 pcs per design may qualify for a sample-fee refund under the project arrangement.

Custom Mylar Bags FAQ
What is the MOQ for custom Mylar bags?
Some eligible ordinary digital pouch projects may be evaluated around 100 pcs; approximately 1,000–3,000 pcs is normally recommended for better value. Ordinary gravure pouches generally start around 10,000 pcs. Flat-bottom digital projects can be evaluated around 1,000–2,000 pcs. Final minimum depends on format, dimensions, structure, features and each artwork.
Are all Mylar bags made with aluminum foil?
No. Mylar is a trademarked name associated with polyester film, while buyers also use the term broadly for barrier pouches. A quoted bag may use foil, metallized film or another suitable laminate. Ask for the actual structure; neither the name nor a silver appearance proves the material or performance. Branded film supply is not claimed unless specifically confirmed.
Can a Mylar bag have a transparent window?
Yes, where the pouch construction and production route are suitable. The transparent viewing area cannot have a continuous aluminum foil or metallized layer. A windowed front with a foil or metallized back can be evaluated, but it is not equivalent to an all-foil bag. Review window size, complete structure and actual product protection requirements.
Do resealable zippers replace heat sealing?
No. A compatible zipper supports repeated opening after use; the original heat seal above it closes the unopened retail package. Reclosing a zipper does not reproduce the original sealed-pack barrier. Confirm top-seal allowance and actual sealing conditions.
Should I choose digital, gravure or stock-pouch overprinting?
Evaluate digital for suitable smaller launches and multiple designs, gravure for stable larger-volume artworks, and overprinting where a suitable stock pouch can accept simpler branding. Confirm quantities per design, cylinder costs, laminate and available inventory before comparing total cost.
Can I order several Mylar bag designs together?
Compatible digital projects can be evaluated by total quantity, but minimums per design and combined pricing require confirmation. Gravure artworks normally require separate cylinder evaluation. Provide each SKU, bag dimensions, structure and quantity rather than only one total.
What sizes can you make?
Custom dimensions are reviewed against format, material and production route. Maximum digital finished-pouch width is approximately 37 cm; wider bags cannot use that route. Stock sizes depend on inventory. Confirm usable capacity with your actual product and a representative filling trial.
Are Mylar bags automatically suitable for long-term storage or vacuum packing?
No fixed shelf life or universal vacuum suitability is promised. Confirm contents, barrier targets, storage, seals, handling and equipment compatibility. Nitrogen flushing, oxygen absorbers or a thick-looking bag do not replace validation. Hot-fill, retort and other special conditions require separate material and production review.
What do samples cost and how long does production take?
Limited available reference samples are normally free with buyer-paid freight. Eligible ordinary custom printed samples are approximately USD 50–70 each; special-finish samples approximately USD 100–150, subject to review. Typical digital production is approximately 8–10 working days. Gravure cylinders take approximately 7–9 working days, followed by approximately 15–20 days of production after cylinder completion. Final approval, required payment, sampling and shipping are separate conditions.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Provide product, fill weight, bag format, width/height/gusset, quantity per design, SKU count, material or performance needs, window/zipper requirements, filling and sealing conditions, artwork, target shelf life and destination market. Required documents and special performance claims must be confirmed for the actual package.
