Custom Bean and Lentil Packaging Bags
Show the quality of your pulses. Size the bag around the real fill.
Custom printed packaging for dry chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans and black beans. Plan the window, reclosure, filled weight and packing route for your retail or food-service range.
Send a product photo, target fill and quantity per design. We supply empty packaging; pictured brands and weights are illustrative concepts.

Which Packaging Route Should You Choose?
A resealable stand-up pouch is a useful starting point for multi-use retail packs. A suitable flat-bottom pouch can offer another display format, while printed rollstock serves a compatible automatic bagging line. Choose dimensions using the actual dry product and test the filled package.
For dry uncooked pulses. Cooked beans, beans in sauce and retort products require a different process and material brief.
Different Products Need Different Packing Briefs
Chickpeas
Rounded, relatively bulky pieces need enough opening and gusset space. Check the filled volume and how the product settles during handling.
Lentils
Small flat pieces flow differently from whole chickpeas. Assess dosing, dust and small fragments near the top seal and zipper.
Kidney & Black Beans
Whole beans vary in shape and size. A viewing window can show color and integrity, with the printed variety name remaining easy to identify.
Premade Pouches or Printed Packaging Film?
Zipper Stand-Up Pouch
A display and reclosure option for multi-use dry pulses. Leave filling and first heat-seal clearance above the zipper.
Stand-up pouches →Flat-Bottom Pouch
Evaluate the filled footprint, gussets and opening for larger retail or food-service packs; use the format-specific printing rules.
Flat-bottom pouches →Printed Rollstock
For a line that forms and fills bags from film. Confirm the machine drawing, web width, repeat and sealing conditions.
Printed rollstock →Build the Bean Bag Around the Actual Grain Size

A Visible Product, a Practical Opening
A window can show bean color, grading and broken pieces. Position it below the intended fill line while keeping the variety and net quantity easy to read. The clear area remains sealed film.
Leave room for filling tools and a clean top seal. Whole chickpeas need a different opening from small lentils; dust and fragments can interfere with the seal or zipper tracks.
For larger fills, review the bottom gusset, side seals, actual packed mass and carton arrangement. A large printed bag is not automatically a load-tested bag.
Balance Visibility and Storage Requirements
Specify moisture and oxygen requirements, light exposure, target shelf life and storage conditions before selecting a laminate. Clear, metallized or foil-containing structures can be evaluated where suitable; the bean name alone does not determine the right material.
Confirm food-contact documentation applicable to the selected structure and intended use. Product storage, pest-management and preparation instructions remain part of the food producer’s process; packaging is not a universal insect-control guarantee.
What to Send for a Size Recommendation
| Information | Useful details |
|---|---|
| Actual product | Photos, representative pieces, recipe category and normal shape/size variation. |
| Intended fill | Net weight or count, loose or arranged product, tray dimensions where used, and fill level. |
| Bag or machine route | Premade opening, width/height/gusset, or the equipment supplier’s approved web specification. |
| Storage & distribution | Target shelf life, storage conditions, handling route and carton arrangement. |
Use our bag size guide to prepare measurements. Confirm the convention for gussets and seals on an approved drawing; a generic capacity chart cannot replace a filled sample.

Review Automatic Packing Film Before Production
Printed rollstock is supplied on reels for your compatible forming and filling line. A product illustration on the film is an artwork concept, not a machine drawing. Confirm web width, repeat, registration marks, unwind direction, core and reel limits, and seal conditions with the equipment supplier.
Check dosing and product flow with your real dry pulses. Confirm the seal area stays free of bean fragments and dust, and assess the filled bag and carton at the intended weight.
Make Your Range Easy to Recognize and Reorder
Identify Each Product
Keep the variety or flavor name prominent. Coordinate artwork across SKUs while making each product easy to distinguish.
Reserve Functional Space
Allow for approved ingredients, relevant allergens, net quantity, storage or preparation instructions, barcode and lot/date coding. Buyers approve market-specific wording.
Approve Each Revision
Review dieline, artwork, colors, structure and quantity per design. Keep important text clear of folds and seals and record the approved version for reorders.
MOQ, Samples and Production Planning
| Route | Planning reference | Confirm before quote |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary digital pouches | Some suitable projects around 100 pieces; approximately 1,000–3,000 generally recommended for value. | Format, dimensions, structure, finishes and quantity per design. |
| Ordinary gravure pouches | Generally around 10,000 pieces. | Cylinders, colors, structure, quantity and reorder plan. |
| Printed rollstock | Some suitable digital trials around 10 kg; normal commercial recommendation around 300 kg+. | Approved machine drawing, structure and sealing requirements. Trial film is quoted separately. |
Flat-bottom bean bags use their own rules: around 1,000–2,000 pieces may be evaluated digitally, 3,000+ pieces merits a digital/gravure cost comparison, and around 10,000 pieces is often more economical in gravure. Ordinary flat-bottom printed samples are USD 110 each before separately quoted extra finishes.
Conditional references, not universal minimums. The approximate 37 cm maximum finished digital-pouch width is not a rollstock web-width rule. Special formats and very small bags require separate confirmation.
Samples
Available reference samples are normally free with buyer-paid freight. Ordinary printed samples are typically USD 50–70 each; selected special finishes may be USD 100–150. Other formats and film trials are quoted separately.
Production
Digital production is typically around 8–10 working days. Gravure cylinders typically take 7–9 working days, followed by around 15–20 days of production after cylinders are ready.
Approvals & Delivery
Timing follows final specification/artwork approval and required payment. Trials, special processes, scheduling, holidays and shipping affect the actual delivery plan.

Learn about Runlong Pack →Bean and Lentil Packaging Bags FAQ
Can you make bags for chickpeas, lentils and kidney beans?
Yes. Suitable dry-pulse projects can use printed premade pouches or machine rollstock. Share the actual variety, target net weight, bag or film dimensions, storage brief and filling process. This page covers dry uncooked products; cooked beans and retort packs require a separate specification.
Can dry-bean packaging include a window?
An intact clear-film window can show the beans. Plan it around the filled product level and the print layout. Continuous opaque foil or metallization cannot remain across the transparent area. Evaluate the complete construction against the product’s storage and barrier requirements.
What size pouch fits 500 g or 1 kg of lentils?
There is no single reliable gram-to-size rule. Chickpeas, whole beans and lentils have different packing densities. Use representative product to confirm width, height, gusset, fill level, usable opening and sealing clearance, then approve a filled sample.
Can a zipper replace the first heat seal?
No. For the normal resealable retail route, the producer fills the bag and applies an initial heat seal above the zipper. The zipper supports later reclosure but does not restore unopened-pack conditions after use.
Which material should I choose for dry pulses?
Confirm moisture and oxygen requirements, target shelf life, light exposure, filled mass, storage and sealing conditions. Suitable clear, metallized or foil-containing structures can be evaluated. Do not choose a structure only from the bean name or the number of laminate layers.
Are flat-bottom bean bags available?
Suitable flat-bottom projects can be evaluated. Digital orders around 1,000–2,000 pieces may be considered, with 3,000+ pieces worth comparing against gravure and around 10,000 pieces often more economical in gravure. Final minimums depend on the structure, size and artwork.
What is the MOQ for ordinary bean stand-up pouches?
Some suitable ordinary digital projects can be evaluated around 100 pieces; approximately 1,000–3,000 pieces is generally recommended for value. Ordinary gravure pouches generally start around 10,000 pieces. Flat-bottom formats and film orders use their own rules.
Can you supply film for an automatic bean packing machine?
Printed rollstock can be evaluated against the approved machine drawing. Send web width, repeat, eye marks, unwind direction, core and reel limits, material and sealing requirements. Film minimums are assessed in kilograms and cannot be inferred from premade-bag piece quantities.
Will the bag carry any heavy fill without damage?
No universal load rating is implied. Assess actual filled mass, seals, gusset, film and carton arrangement using representative packs and agreed handling tests. A thicker film or larger gusset alone does not establish transport performance.
Can I get samples and a branded mockup?
Available reference samples are normally free with buyer-paid freight. Custom samples are quoted by format and specification. A free static mockup is normally prepared within two days after receiving the necessary logo, product details and design idea; the production drawing and filled samples need separate approval.
