Which Bag Fits Your Dried Fruit?

A resealable stand-up pouch can suit multi-serving retail packs; flat bags suit some portion packs, while printed rollstock is evaluated for compatible automatic packing lines. The right material depends on the fruit’s condition, added ingredients, storage requirements and sealing process.

Begin with the actual fruit and how you pack it. A target weight helps start the conversation, but it does not establish the bag dimensions or finished-food shelf life.

Product-specific packaging review

Dried Fruit Packaging for Your Product Range

Dried Mango

Review long or irregular slices, added sugar and surface stickiness. Leave room for loading and removal without forcing the pieces through a narrow opening.

Raisins & Cranberries

Small pieces pack differently from large fruit slices. Discuss oil treatments, sugar and clumping alongside pourability, the zipper and seal cleanliness.

Dried Apricots

Halves and whole pieces affect filled volume and shelf presentation. Confirm their actual moisture condition and handling before selecting the structure.

Dates, Prunes & Mixed Fruit

Whole, pitted and chopped products create different clearances. For mixed fruit, review the complete blend, piece sizes and any oily or sticky ingredients.

Choose a Packaging Format Around Your Sales and Filling Process

Resealable Stand-Up Pouches

A standing retail format for suitable sharing packs. Combine printed branding with an optional zipper, tear notch and clear window. The initial heat seal is specified separately from the zipper.

Flat-Bottom Bags

Consider this format when the shelf footprint, panels or filling arrangement fit the brief. Confirm standing behavior with the real product; flat-bottom bags have separate sampling and MOQ rules.

Review flat-bottom options →

Single-Serve Flat Pouches

Suitable small snack portions may use a flat premade pouch without a zipper. Review the opening, easy-tear feature and the packing method against the fruit-piece size.

Printed Rollstock Film

For machines that form the package from film, specify the full web and reel requirements. Film selection, print registration and sealing need to match your actual line.

Already Using an Automatic Packing Line?

Send the machine model and approved film drawing. Include web width, repeat length, eye mark, unwind direction, core size and maximum reel dimensions, together with the required material and sealing conditions.

Check how sticky pieces, sugar or oil affect loading and sealing on the intended machine. An artwork concept is not an approved machine drawing or proof of line compatibility.

Plan for Stickiness, Oils and Clean Seals

The Fruit Condition Matters

Tell us whether the fruit is sweetened, oil-treated, soft, chewy or particularly sticky. Recipe and surface condition can affect loading, contact with the film, dispensing and the seal area.

  • Sticky fruit: review the usable opening and handling with real pieces.
  • Surface oils or sugar: include them in the material and sealing brief.
  • Large or firm pieces: check filled-bag fit, compression and transport contact.
  • Seal cleanliness: keep fruit, crumbs and oil away from the zipper and final seal.

Approve the bag after a filling and sealing trial, rather than choosing from the photograph or net weight alone.

Protection and presentation together

Materials and Clear Windows for Dried Fruit Bags

Review moisture, oxygen, aroma and light requirements with the product’s storage and distribution brief. Transparent, metallized or foil-containing structures can be evaluated where suitable. A thicker film or silver appearance alone does not establish the performance of the finished pouch.

PresentationWhy consider it?What needs confirmation?
Printed clear-window pouchLet customers see the fruit’s size, texture and appearance.Window position, real fill level, film structure and light exposure.
Opaque printed pouchUse the front for artwork and provide an opaque presentation. The laminate, barrier requirements, sealant and intended storage conditions.
Clear front + opaque backCombine front product visibility with a rear panel for printed information.Front/back structures and the performance of the complete sealed package.
Window and aluminum layers: a transparent area cannot retain continuous opaque aluminum foil or metallization. A suitable foil or metallized back with a clear front can be evaluated as a different structure; the back does not give the entire bag full-foil protection.

See custom window stand-up pouch options for shapes, artwork and white-ink planning. Available food-contact documents are reviewed for the proposed structure and use; we use food-grade raw materials without recycled, secondary or scrap materials.

The food producer validates the finished product’s shelf life using its recipe, process, seals and intended storage conditions. Packaging selection supports that work; it does not replace it.

Confirm the Bag Size with Your Actual Dried Fruit

A 250 g mango pack and a 250 g raisin pack can need different dimensions. Share the target net weight, representative pieces and a current bag if available. Measurements are confirmed by the buyer before production.

Product Volume

Check fruit shape, slice length, bulk volume and space needed for loading. Confirm the filled sample rather than applying a fixed weight-to-size chart.

Drawing & Functional Space

Define width, height and the bottom-gusset measurement convention. Allow room for the zipper, loading and top seal, plus date coding and required label information.

Filled-Pack Trial

Check standing, opening, pouring and reclosure, then review the seal and carton fit under the intended handling conditions.

Use our packaging bag size guide to prepare the dimensions. Suitable digital pouches have a maximum finished width of approximately 37 cm; larger sizes require another production route review.

Custom Printing for Different Fruits and SKUs

Build a Recognizable Range

Keep the brand consistent while clearly identifying mango, raisins, apricots or other varieties. Use product photography or illustration that represents what is actually inside.

Prepare the Print Files

Reserve areas for ingredients, relevant allergen information, net quantity, storage instructions, barcode and lot/date coding. Buyers provide and approve market-specific wording.

Compare the Printing Route

Send quantities per SKU and identify shared size, material and window positions. Digital and gravure are evaluated around the project, finish and repeat-order plan.

Matte, gloss, soft-touch and selected special effects can be reviewed for suitable constructions. Color appearance can differ between screens, samples and production; agree important color expectations before approval.

Order planning

MOQ, Samples and Lead Times

RoutePlanning referenceProject review
Ordinary digital pouchesSome suitable projects around 100 pieces; approximately 1,000–3,000 pieces generally recommended for value.Bag size, material, printing, finishes and quantity per design.
Ordinary gravure pouchesGenerally around 10,000 pieces.Cylinders, colors, dimensions, structure and repeat-order needs.
Digital flat-bottom bagsSuitable projects around 1,000–2,000 pieces; compare routes around 3,000+ pieces.Separate bag-making and sampling conditions.
Printed rollstockSuitable digital trials around 10 kg may be evaluated; normal commercial recommendation around 300 kg+.Film construction, machine specification and trial-roll quote. Small trials can have a high unit cost.

These are conditional planning references, not fixed minimums for every specification. Film quantities are evaluated in kilograms, separately from premade pouch quantities.

Samples Before Production

Available reference samples are normally free, with buyer-paid freight. Ordinary custom printed samples are typically USD 50–70 each; selected special finishes may be USD 100–150 each. Flat-bottom custom printed samples are USD 110 each, with additional finishes quoted separately. Trial film rolls are quoted separately.

Typical Production Timing

Digital production is typically around 8–10 working days. For gravure, allow around 7–9 working days for cylinders, then around 15–20 days for production after cylinders are ready.

Confirm the Commercial Plan

Timing starts after required specification, artwork and payment approvals. Shipping and holidays are additional factors. A qualifying gravure order of more than 20,000 pieces per design can receive a sample-fee refund under the agreed conditions.

Dried Fruit Packaging FAQ

Which packaging is suitable for dried fruit?

A printed stand-up pouch with an optional zipper is one option for suitable retail dried fruit. Flat-bottom bags, flat portion packs or printed rollstock may fit other projects. Select the material and format using the actual fruit, recipe, fill weight, storage brief and packing process rather than the product name alone.

Can you make custom dried mango packaging bags?

Yes. Send the mango slice size, product condition, target weight, quantity per design and preferred format. Added sugar, surface stickiness and any oil treatment should be included in the brief so the bag size, material and filling clearance can be reviewed.

Can dried fruit pouches have a transparent window?

A suitable clear window can be evaluated with the product’s light, moisture and oxygen requirements. Continuous opaque aluminum foil or metallization cannot remain across a transparent area. A clear front with an opaque back is a different construction and must be assessed as a complete package.

Can you add a resealable zipper?

Yes, for suitable premade pouch projects. Check the zipper opening against the fruit pieces and keep fruit, sugar and oil away from the closure and final heat-seal area. The zipper is for reclosure after opening; it does not replace the initial top seal.

What size pouch is needed for 250 g of dried fruit?

There is no universal 250 g size. Large mango slices, raisins and whole dates have different shapes and bulk volumes. Start with the real product and confirm width, height, bottom gusset, opening clearance and top-seal space through a filling trial.

What is the MOQ for custom dried fruit bags?

Some suitable ordinary digital pouch projects can be evaluated around 100 pieces, with approximately 1,000–3,000 pieces generally recommended for value. Ordinary gravure projects generally start around 10,000 pieces. Flat-bottom bags, rollstock and special constructions follow separate project conditions.

Can different fruit varieties use different designs?

Yes. Share the quantities for each SKU and whether the dimensions, structure, window and finish can be shared. Digital and gravure costs are evaluated differently; do not assume that combining several designs creates the same cost as one design.

Can you supply film for an automatic dried fruit packaging machine?

Printed rollstock can be evaluated for suitable machines. Supply the machine model and approved film drawing, including web width, print repeat, eye mark, unwind direction, core and reel limits, plus the filling and sealing conditions. Trial performance must be checked on the intended line.

Can I get samples or a packaging mockup?

Available reference samples are normally free, with freight paid by the buyer. Custom printed samples are quoted for the actual format and finishes. A free static mockup is normally prepared within two days after the required logo, design idea and product information are received.

Is dried fruit packaging the same as freeze-dried fruit packaging?

The products can have different density, texture, water content and sensitivity to moisture. Chewy dried fruit may also be sticky or oil-treated, while freeze-dried products are often light and fragile. Use the actual product and validated storage brief to specify each package; the terms are not interchangeable.
